Hayden and Kym Mellsop

Hayden was born in New Zealand, and first came to the Salida area in 1990. He met Kym in Salida in 1994, and they married and have called this area home since 1996.
Hayden has been with Pinon Real Estate Group since 2006, and has guided fly fishermen extensively in both New Zealand and Colorado for over twenty years. He writes for High Country Angler magazine, and his own blog at www.flyfishsalida.com.
As well as fly fishing, Hayden’s other interests include helping raise his two daughters, snowboarding and mountain biking. He has a strong conservation ethic, and is currently board president of the Land Trust of the Upper Arkansas, and member of Trout Unlimited.
The upper Arkansas River Valley is a great place for parents to raise their kids, outdoors enthusiasts to come and recreate, retirees to enjoy their golden years and investors to reap the benefits of investing in a sound real estate market. Hayden believes in utilizing his local knowledge and exceptional inter-personal skills to help people of all walks of life realize their dreams.

Fine Points
I was born in Auckland, New Zealand
My second career is a mix of fly fishing guide and outdoor writer
My passion is standing on the banks of a river, miles from anywhere, wiht a fly rod in my hand
I'm devoted to my wife Kym, and two daughters
Future dreams are living in a world where beer and hot winds are recognized health foods
Secretly I would like to have a guest appearance on The Simpsons
What brought me to Chaffee County is The Arkansas River. My intention was to spend the summer of 1990 guiding on the river before moving on to Europe

Kym discovered Salida in 1994, having just graduated from Smith College in Massachusetts. Making her way back to the West Coast she stopped by to visit family and never left. A self-professed city girl from the San Francisco Bay Area, she fell in love with Salida's mountains, river and slower pace of life. Kym brings to Pinon a love of the land, the river and the people of the Salida area. When not working in real estate she is actively involved in Salida's school system, sitting on two school boards and volunteering her time at her daughters' schools. She is also a local La Leche League leader and past board president of the Ark Valley Humane Society. She believes that strong schools, sense of community, and easy access to the outdoors make Salida the ideal place to raise her two daughters, Sophia and Beatrice. She enjoys sharing her passion for the area with her clients, helping them find their perfect mountain home, investment property or in-town residence.
